I accidentally recorded this sequence when i left my camcorder on while filming some drawing tutorials. My warehouse style studio is in the inner city at street level opening onto a street closure/park so you will hear some faint bird tweeting in the background. Near the beginning and end there is the sound of a large industrial sliding door and the loud clanging is a drop bolt on an external metal security grill gate. Wind blown chimes add to the scene. I only applied a very low level audio clean-up using adobe soundbooth cs3 to reduce hiss.

I was looking for a sound that fitted a dance studio/recording studio reception area so i mixed a few sounds together and came up with this. It has traffic sounds, various bird sounds, indistinct chatter, a thumping bass in the background like in a room on the floor above and a harmony group practising somewhere else in the building. Could be useful for a radio play, movie scene or theatre play.

Zoom h1n recording from this morning's rainstorm in metro detroit. The original recording was from 5:02am to 7:26am, but due to a lot of secondary rain drops splashes hitting the recorder directly when the wind would shift i edited it down to 52 minutes after taking most of the knocks outs when i edited in movavi. Pretty steady rain for most of the track as you hear the hum from the morning commuters in their cars increase in the distant background. You'll hear some birds too throughout the track, mostly starlings i believe.

The recorder (edirol r-09rh) was set in a very high building, therefore the sound consists mainly of ambient noise, eventually with subtle concrete sounds (birds, childs, dogs, sirens,. . . ). A stereo recording of a weekday afternoon at melbourne general cemetery (victoria, australia), in the suburb of carlton north or princes hill. There are some birds, a plane flying overhead. It was recorded using a sony pcm-d50's built-in stereo microphones and has had light noise reduction applied (de-wind, rx8). Nestling in the crowns of pine trees in various parks across the eu capital, they add a subtropical flavor to brussels' diverse soundscape. Just as most of the city's inhabitants, the ring-necked, alexandrine and quaker parrots came from a different place. Having escaped a zoo exhibit many years ago, they've been eking out a living, adapting to the tempered climate and found themselves a new home. A soft and subtle, unedited sound recording from my studio in leeds. On the top floor of my terraced house, i have a large window that opens out onto a quiet street in north leeds. A school is nearby, so there are some elements of children screaming, but overall you get a nice wash of bird song, quiet car sounds and mild wind. This recording would be excellent for atmospheric sound for film, tv or whatever else. Rode nt4 mic with a rycote wind muff on (slight attenuation of the higher frequencies is noticeable to my ears) sitting on a chair under an awning on my porch. I hit record slightly too late to catch the first couple of bell rings, but got most of it. First we hear the church signal 8pm, then we hear the courthouse do the same thing. Also some wind in the trees right above the mic, some rain, a bit of thunder, and some cars in a small town. One of my favorite sounds of spring and summer is the beautiful night-hawk. Around dusk they patrol the skies over generally open areas searching for insects. They actually seem to prefer areas where there are man-made structures; that's why you will hear them often in town, especially near baseball/softball fields where the big banks of lights attract their food source. They really do seem fond of and are quite common around towns and cities. Plus, another amazing fact that i read on the cornell ornithology website is that these birds do not build a nest, rather the female simply lays her eggs directly on the ground, and lets camouflage do the rest!. This recording was captured by my h4n using my rode nt4 microphone mounted inside a parabolic dish. Other than simply boosting the level by about 10 db using adobe audition 3. 0, i did no other processing to this file.
